I don't think you ever were the real scootaloo. I think the real Scootaloo tried to get her cutie mark by going into the Everfree forest but something bad happened and you found her dying, you tried to save her but you couldn't. As she was dying she talked about her life, how she would miss hanging out with the CMC and miss her Big sister Rainbow before passing away. It was then you decided that you would take her place and become Scootaloo.
